Parenting Coordination Council
of Delaware
Services
The role of the parenting coordinator is to facilitate communication between disputing parties, helping parents to reach agreements on specific parenting issues.  The parenting coordinator, a highly trained and experienced professional, is skilled in techniques of mediation and conflict resolution, and will work with you to resolve your dispute.  Should the impasse remain unresolved, however, the parenting coordinator is empowered by the Family Court of the State of Delaware to make a decision for you.  If this occurs, you will be informed of the decision in writing.

Examples of Disagreements Resolved by Parenting Coordination:

  • Dates and times of pick-up that do not result in substantial changes in a parent's overall time with a child
  • Sharing of vacations and holidays
  • Method of pick-up and delivery
  • Transportation to and from visitation
  • Participation in daycare/ baby-sitting
  • Bedtimes
  • Diet
  • After-school and enrichment activities
  • Other specific parenting disputes
Many disputes are resolved without the need for a meeting.  Communicate with your parenting coordinator via email or telephone!
The Parenting Coordinator will not make any decisions which substantially alter the parents' time sharing arrangements, change custody or placement, or impact major educational, religious or medical care issues.
